The Music of Gamal Abdel Nasser

If you are an Arab, you are either a big fan of Nasser, the historic and beloved Egyptian president. you either love him or hate him. If you hate him, you must be either a loyalist to King Farouk or President Sadat. Or you are a Muslim brotherhood. But there is no question Gamal Abdel Nasser is the Arab leader who survives the test of time. He was an influencer whom the West lost due to their arrogance back then, and then he turned around and stuck it to them.

People around the Arab world love the guy and have nothing but love for the man who was their for much of the history shaping events of the modern Middle East. In the Palestine War of 1947, he was a soldier. When Israel defeated Egypt he was there and offered to resign, people refused to let go of him. Then he took on the preparation for war, but he died shortly before Egypt brought back much of its lost honor and liberated their land.

This is not about politics, this track is about the music of Nasser and the ones who celebrated him. As an avid fan of music who would always attend Oum Kalthoum concerts and keep tabs on musicians and composers. Hear the famed Egyptian singer Abdel Haleem in his epic song for Nasser.
